Annual Fund brochure goes out this week
The latest Annual Fund brochure goes out this week; teachers will receive a copy in their mailboxes as well. A PDF of the latest brochure is attached to this e-mail.
Chris Childers would like to thank everyone for their participation in the AF drive. Soon, “grade captains” and class leaders (parents and volunteers) will begin calling FPD families seeking contributions to the Annual Fund.
Athletics
Football wins region, hosts JMA
The football team knocked off visiting Deerfield-Windsor last Friday, shocking amateur prognosticators at the Macon Telegraph and clinching home-field advantage throughout the playoffs in the process. The Vikings host John Milledge Academy in the first round of the playoffs Friday.
Girls basketball begins Monday
The girls basketball season begins Monday at the Tattnall Tip-Off Tournament.
Georgia beat Auburn
In case you missed it, Georgia wore out Auburn on Saturday Between the Hedges.
On Campus
Uniforms letter went out Friday
Mr. Thompson mailed out a letter to FPD families on Friday regarding the school’s decision to adopt a uniforms policy for next year. The issue was discussed at Thursday’s faculty meeting and copies of the letter as well as a price list for uniforms were made available to teachers. A copy of the letter and both price list sheets are attached here.
Fountain a new addition to playground
You might have noticed the new water fountain on the elementary playground. It is placed there in memory of Carter Smith.

Math teams, cheerleaders shine at competitions
Please congratulate math team members and varsity cheerleaders on their recent success as noted in the announcements. The middle school math team won first place at a competition at Berry College while the varsity team finished second at a contest at Mercer. The cheerleaders won first place at the Brentwood Invitational.

FPD senior Catherine Berry, editor of The Saga and member of the Telegraph’s Teen Board, wrote a column that appeared in the “Fresh Ink” section of today’s Telegraph. Be sure to check it out.

Stratford announces hiring of headmaster
Stratford’s board of trustees announced the hiring of a new headmaster, Robert E. Veto, at last night’s meeting. You can read about it here: http://www.macon.com/198/story/184939.html

The Saga coming out Friday
The third edition of The Saga is due out Friday. It will include a special Thanksgiving section as well as the unveiling of a new house ad campaign. You won’t want to miss it.
Reminder about Will Hobbs’ visit
The library is sponsoring a visit by noted author Will Hobbs for the middle school students on Tuesday, Nov. 27. Hobbs and is the author of 16 award-winning novels and two picture book stories. His stories are filled with adventure, suspense, mystery and memorable characters. He will be giving a presentation during chapel time and will also give two writing workshops to the middle school English classes.
