Dear FPD Families,

For the 2015-2016 Academic School Year, we have decided to suspend operations of FPD’s Downtown Campus. Since 2012, we have successfully operated the Downtown Campus and thank the teachers and families involved who have made the campus an engaging learning experience.

Downtown enrollment is such that our students will be better served socially as part of the main campus. Additionally, by combining our two campuses we will again have near capacity enrollment in our 3K-K classrooms here. You may recall that the Downtown Campus began in part to provide for the educational needs of students whose moms or dads worked downtown at a time the main campus was experiencing waiting lists. We have prayed on God’s timing to add grades downtown; however, demand is such that it is best to suspend operation at this time. We hope to return in the not too distant future as more and more housing options are being developed for families in downtown Macon.

The timing of the decision enabled all three Downtown Campus faculty members to fill open positions in our Kindergarten – both Allison Lucas and Robyn Washburn as classroom teachers and Jean O’Dillon as an aide. Allison and Jean have done a wonderful job teaching and supporting the needs of our downtown families. Robyn had accepted the anticipated opening downtown. All three are exceptional teachers and will add much to our Kindergarten program. I know you will join me in welcoming them.

We are very thankful to First Presbyterian Church for their hospitality and support over the past three years. We have left the door open to resume operations at the Downtown Campus when the time is right. In the meantime, we look forward to welcoming several Downtown Campus families to our Main Campus. Please help them to feel at home as you do with all of our new families.

Because He is faithful,
Gregg Thompson
