A member of the FPD staff since 1988, and Head Coach for the FPD Football team since 2000* Previously served as a Varsity Football Assistant for 10 years, during which time he was offensive coordinator for 5 years and the defensive coordinator twice * Greg graduated from FPD in 1984, where he was an All-Region baseball player for the Vikings under Jim Turner * Served as a student manager during his college years for the Crimson Tide football program at the University of Alabama * Was awarded a full scholarship his final two years as the Head Student Manager by Head Coach Bill Curry * Became the Head Boys Basketball Coach in 1995, following in the footsteps of longtime success Philip McLeroy * Region Coach of the Year 6 times, directing the FPD Basketball program to Region Championships in 1997, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005, as well as seven Final Four appearances, a State Runner-Up in 1997 & 2003, and State Championships in 2000 & 2004, where he was selected GISA Coach of the Year * His first year in football as Head Coach (2000) he was selected Region 1-AAA Coach of the Year for guiding the Vikings to a 9-4 turnaround season and in 2001 the Vikings finished 11-3 as State Runner-Up * He was again named Region Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2005 when the Vikings won Region 2-AAA Championships and appeared in the state finals in those years * Married to Kim Cowart, they are members of Mabel White Baptist Church, and are extremely proud of daughter Kaylee (6/30/02) and son, Jackson (8/31/03). He enjoys movies and dining out in his spare time.

Coach Atkinson begins his coaching career in 1975 after graduating from Clemson University * Has served as an assistant or head coach in 20 State Championship football games and as a head coach of 7 State Championships teams in girls basketball, baseball and track * Served as Executive Secretary of GISA Coaches Association for 13 years * Teaches World History & European History and was honored as 2004 Star Teacher at Tattnall Square * Has 4 children and 4 grandchildren with wife Jan * Actively involved at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Brad Thompson Assistant Coach
At FPD since 1997 * He is again working with the offensive line and defensive tackles for the varsity football team and will also assist on the Vikings B-Team this fall * He is a graduate of Tattnall Square Academy, where he was a stand-out player in baseball and football for the Trojans * Began his coaching career at Tattnall in 1996 * Graduate of Mercer University, 1995, with a B.A. in History/English, and completed his Masters degree in Administration at Covenant College * Teaches GA History, Civics and U.S. History * Coach of C-team Girls’ basketball champions in 2002 & 2004 and varsity tennis * Married to Katherine, (1995 FPD graduate) and father of Olivia (1/19/03) * Brad and Katherine are expecting their second child this fall * They are members of Ingleside Baptist Church * He enjoys golf, running and reading in his spare time.
Ken Garvin Assistant Coach
Coaching since 1988, 14 years of which were spent at Mt. de Sales as an Offensive Line Coach, Defensive Coordinator & Head Track Coach * He spent the 2003-04 year at Tattnall Square where he was Head Wrestling Coach * At FPD he is the Defensive Line and Head Wrestling Coach * Coach Garvin was a member of the coaching staff for the 1996 State Champions at Mt. de Sales and State Runner-Up teams at Mt. de Sales (1997), Tattnall Square (2003) and FPD (2004 & 2005)* Married to Paige Davidson, they are the proud parents of Mac (2/2/01) and Marshall (11/26/03) * He is a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church * He enjoys fishing and golf in his spare time.
Thomas Craig
Assistant Coach
A member of the FPD coaching staff since 2000, having previously coached at Windsor Academy in Macon, GA * A 1996 graduate of Windsor, where he was an All-State baseball player and scored over 1,000 career points as a basketball player and was a very skilled offensive and defensive back for the Knight’s football program as well * Graduate of Macon State College with a B.S. in Business and Information Technology * Serves FPD as an assistant in football, basketball and head coach of the 8th grade boys basketball * Coach Craig has recently married Brooke Melton of Macon * He is a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Macon * Enjoys weight lifting, hunting, and fishing.
Jonathan Gess Assistant Coach
Coach Gess has been an assistant coach for the FPD varsity football team since 2004, having assisted as a volunteer assistant for the FPD C-team in 2003 * A graduate of Clover High School in York County, SC where he was a two year starter at center * He continued his football career as a three year starter at center at The Citadel where he played under head coaches Don Powers & Ellis Johnson * Will teach Algebra II and weight training at FPD in addition to being an FCA Huddle Leader * Jonathan and wife, Dee, are members of Grace Presbyterian Church * He enjoys working out in his spare time.
Loo Loosier Assistant Coach
Coach Loosier joined the FPD coaching staff in 2005 as assistant varsity football and baseball coach. He will assist in coaching linebackers and running backs. Coach Loosier is a 1999 graduate of Tattnall Square Academy. He was named the team MVP, and earned All-State honors his Jr. and Sr. year. In addition, he was named to the All-City team as a Jr. and Sr. and to the All-Middle Georgia team as a Sr. Loo played two seasons at Darton College on a baseball scholarship and was named Top Scholar Athlete at Darton for the highest academic GPA his sophomore year. He finished his playing career at the State University of West Georgia on a full baseball scholarship playing firstbase. In 2004, Loo graduated cum laude from the State University of West Georgia with a degree in business marketing. Coach Loosier lives in Macon and attends Ingleside Baptist Church.
Garrett Law Athletic Trainer
Garrett came to FPD in 2004 from Wellstar Health System and Marist School * He earned a BS in Physical Education/Athletic Training from Berry College * Certifications include Certified/Licensed Athletic Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist * He is in love with his wife Valerie, and young son Bonner (4/3/03) and daughter Bella Rose (3/12/05)
