Joshua Trieste

Joshua Trieste currently serves as the First Presbyterian Day School boy’s and girl’s Varsity soccer coach and will once again serve as the b-team girls and boys coach in 2008 - 2009. He previously served as the b-team coach from 2003-2006. He now has the longest tenure of any GISA coach in Middle Georgia which has given great stability to the program. He is in his seventh year at First Presbyterian after spending the previous 7 years at Tattnall Square Academy in Macon. He has compiled a GISA record of 289-99-36 during his coaching career. His 2002 boy’s varsity team was his first varsity coaching position. The team set many school records including most season wins at that time (17) and played in the prestigious GISA Final Four. They beat the 11th ranked team in the Southeast on their way to the GISA Final Four. The 2007 boy’s varsity team set a new record with 18 wins and won the first boy’s Region Championship in school history. The 2008 boy's team broke many school records including wins in a season (20), fewest losses in a season (4) and made the first state championship appearance in school history. The team also became the first team regionally ranked by NSCAA and made it as high as #1 in the poll. They also make the national poll for 2 consecutive weeks reaching as high as #12 on that poll. The 2007 girl’s varsity team won a 2AAA Region Championship and won the first AAA State Championship in school history. The team broke many school records including wins in a season (16) and losses in a season (1). The 2008 girl’s team set a school record for wins in a season (20), most goals scored (150), and fewest goals allowed (13) while making a second straight appearance in the State Championship match.  Trieste previously served as the junior varsity coach at Tattnall where his 1997 team won the State Championship. His 2000 JV squad had a 11-0-1 regular season record and played for the State Championship as well.  In 2002 at FPD, he served as the assistant coach for both the varsity and junior varsity girl’s teams which both played for their respective State Championships.  His 2003 JV girls’ team was 16-5 and competed for the 2003 State Championship. His 2004 JV girl’s team finished 8-4-3 and made a third straight appearance in the championship match under his leadership. The team allowed only 12 goals all season and just 2 in the 3 game championship tournament. The 2004 FPD Junior Varsity boy’s soccer team had one of the most successful seasons in GISA history at any level. The team was 16-1 recording all 16 wins by shutout. The team gave up only 2 goals the entire season while scoring 75. The team won the B-Team Showcase tournament and was the 2004 JV State Champions shutting out all the teams at the GISA State Championship tournament. His 2005 JV Girls team finished the season 13-1-1 and outscored their opponents 62-4. The team recorded 12 wins by shutout and won the GISA AAA JV State Championship which was the first for the girl’s soccer program at FPD. The 2006 JV Girls were again 13-1-1 and outscored opponents 85-3, making a 5th straight appearance in the title match. The 2006 boy’s varsity team finished 16-6-1 marking the third most wins in school history. The squad broke many school records for both team and individual accomplishments. The team finished as the GISA Region 2AAA Runner-Up and the team placed 8 members on the All-Region team and 3 on the elite GISA All-State team. The boy’s b-team won the 2006 B-team Showcase tournament and made a third straight appearance in the AAA State Championship match. He was named the Region 2AAA Coach of the Year for the 2006 and 2007 boy’s seasons. In his varsity coaching career at FPD, players under Trieste have represented 65 members of the 2AAA All-Region Team, 30 members of the GISA All-State Team, 29 members of the boy's All-Star Team, 9 members of the All Middle Georgia Second Team, and 11 members of the All Middle Georgia First Team. He was a coach of the boys’ North All Star Team in both 2002 and 2003 and his ‘03 squad won the match. He also served as a AAA coach in the 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008 All Star Match. In the 2007 8-1 win FPD players scored 7 of the 8 goals for AAA and in 2008 the team won 3-1 with FPD players contributing on all 3 goals.

Trieste carries a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “D” License. He was a four year starter and varsity letterman in the soccer program at Tattnall Square Academy in Macon. During his soccer career he served as team captain during his junior and senior season and helped lead Tattnall to their first ever Region Championship and GISA Final Four appearance. He was recognized as a Coaches Award recipient twice and Best Offensive Player during his high school career. He was a 3 year All-Star player and was also an All-State player competing in the GISA. He was a finalist for the 1990 Ben Bowden award which was given annually to the most outstanding player in middle Georgia and was annually given in memory of the former FPD soccer player. He has over 135 individual soccer seasons of playing and coaching to his credit and has been coaching at the high school level since 1995.

Chad Kilpatrick

Chad Kilpatrick will serve as the 2009 varsity and b-team girls assistant coach. He served as the FPD boys b-team and varsity assistant coach in fall of 2006-2007. In that year he also served as the b-team girls head coach and helped lead the team to an undefeated regular season and a 6th straight appearance overall in the championship match. He had that identical role in 2007-2008 for the boys and girls programs and also coached the c-team matches. In the fall of 2008 he was the varsity, b-team and c-team boy’s assistant coach. His 2007 boy’s b-team finished 3rd at the championship tournament. They upset Stratford (3rd seed) and Frederica (2nd seed) at the finals. Chad played high school soccer for LaGrange High and served as a team captain for his junior and senior seasons. He was the team leader in goals and assists during his senior season and helped lead LaGrange to its first Region AAA Championship. He was named the 4AAA Region “Player of the Year” during that season. During that span he was also a member of the AFC Lightning club in Fayetteville.  Chad made a commitment to play college soccer at Georgia Southern and played NCAA division I soccer for four years. He started as a midfielder in over 40 matches at Georgia Southern University and played against top competition including Duke, NC State, Wake Forest, Furman, and Kentucky. He was twice a TIAA-CREF Academic All-Conference selection and in 2005 was a CoSIDA Academic All-America District III nomination. Chad earned a B.A. in Linguistics. Shortly after graduation he moved to Beijing for 11 months to serve with the English Language Institute teaching English to University students and studying Chinese.  Kilpatrick is an 11th and 12th grade English teacher at FPD. He married his wife Ashley in August of 2006. They attend New City Church in Macon.

 

Charlie Parrish

Charlie Parrish will be serving as the head C-team coach in 2009. Coach Parrish enters his twenty-first year as a head soccer coach leading school and club teams since the mid 1980’s. Since his arrival at FPD in 1996, he has lead his b-team and varsity girls’ teams to a combined 127-45-12 record (.723). Parrish directed the FPD B-team girls to three straight championship appearances and has led his varsity girls’ teams to three GISA Final Four appearances and two GISA State Championship matches. Academically, Parrish's teams have received the prestigious NSCAA/Adidas Team Academic Award for the five year span between 2002 and 2006.

Parrish holds National and Regional diplomas from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America
(NSCAA) and is USSF licensed. He has twice been named the GISA Boys Coach of the Year (1995,1999),
the GISA Girls Coach of the Year (2003), the GISA Region I-AAA Boys' Coach of the Year (2000), the
GISA Region 2-AAA Girls' Coach of the Year in 2003, 2004 and 2006, and the Macon Telegraph Girls
Coach of the Year (2006).

Parrish has helped his players pursue college soccer opportunities, including scholarships, to schools such as Appalachian State, Atlanta Christian College,  Brevard College, Bryan College, Covenant College, Darton College, Gordon College, Kennesaw State University, King College, LaGrange College, Tennessee Tech University, Truitt-McConnell College, the  University of  South Carolina and Wesleyan College.

Parrish founded Viking Soccer League in 1996, FPD's popular elementary school intra-mural soccer program, has served as a trainer with the Macon Soccer Club. He was a player on high school and club teams in New Orleans, Louisiana in the 1970's. He also serves at FPD as the school's Chief Financial Officer. He is a member of First Presbyterian Church in Macon. He and his wife, Monni, have two children; Andrei (9) and Nicole (8).

 

 

 

Russ Gladden

Russ Gladden enters his third season with the FPD soccer program He will be serving as the c-team assistant coach working alongside Charlie Parrish and head goalkeeper trainer in 2009. He will be working with all the goalkeepers in the program which include varsity, b-team and c-team keepers. You will also hear Russ as the “Voice of the Vikings”as he will serve as a game day announcer for all our teams. Russ grew up in Augusta, Georgia and attended Clemson University where he graduated in 1996. He has many seasons of coaching to his credit. He coached the middle school soccer team at Thomson Middle School and the team was the runner-up in 2001 and 2002 and was recognized as league champion in 2003. He also served as an assistant coach at Bradwell Institute in Hinesville, Georgia. Currently Russ teaches 5th grade Bible at FPD. He carries a USSF “D” coaching license. He attends First Presbyterian Church.

 

 

Chris Wrabel

Chris Wrabel will be joining the FPD coaching staff for the first time this spring. Chris is a former standout player for Tattnall Square Academy and played for Coach Trieste for 3 years. Chris was a member of the first ever championship team at Tattnall which was the 1997 B-team championship squad. Chris was one of the most dominant strikers at the JV level and continued to excel at the varsity level. He was an All-Region selection in 2000, 2001 and 2002. He was voted the team’s “Best Offensive” player from 2001 – 2003, recognized as the the team MVP in 2002 and 2003, team captain in 2002 and 2003, All-tournament team member in 2002 and 2003, 2002 and 2003 All-Star member and 2003 GISA AAA All-State winner. Chris has done volunteer work with several soccer camps and has also coached in the Upward Soccer League for several years. Chris graduated from Tattnall in 2003. Currently he is employed by ShuBee, which is a plumbing supplies distributor, and works in their sales division. His wife, Lauren, is an FPD graduate and is currently the director of the extended day program at FPD. He and Lauren have 3 children – Olsen Kate (2nd grade), Benjamin (Pre-K) and Sophia (4 months). His family attends Martha Bowman.
