Important League Information:

VSL CHAMPIONSHIPS SET!

Congratulations to all the teams who have qualified for the VSL Championships! The league overall was as balanced as it has ever been and it was great to see all the great players competing this year. We thank everyone for your support and for helping to provide the great atmosphere that has been displayed at every match. We hope to see you back for the 2008 Viking Soccer League.

VSL Championship Times Are Set

The Viking Soccer League championship times for Thursday, December 13 are set. THE COACHES FOR ALL THE CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS IN 1-4 GRADES WILL BE GETTING THEIR PLAYERS WAITING AT ELEMENTARY CARPOOL RIGHT AFTER SCHOOL. This should help parents who have to work and this will also give players a chance to warm-up.

Once again there will be a great tournament atmosphere with all the top teams from each division playing on one day. We encourage everyone to take in several of the matches as the day should have some great games. The format will be slightly different as the K4 and K5 fields will have lights and they will the later games. Tournament shirts will be available on sitefor $13 and they can be customized with players numbers for $3. Please look over the schedule and teams will be listed as soon as possible once their place in the championship match has been achieved. All matches will have overtime periods if a game ends in a tie. (2) 5 minute "silver goal" halves will be used which means a team that holds a lead at the end of an overtime period would be the winnner. A penalty kick shootout would follow both overtimes should the match remain tied.

5th Grade VSL Training League Set

For the second consecutive year the Viking Soccer League will be holding the 5th grade training league. This league plays during the regular Viking Soccer League season but there is a focus on training as well as simply playing matches each day. The times of each session will be from 4:00-5:00 on the following dates: November 27, 28, 29 ,December 4, 7, 17 and 18. All sessions will be held on the practice facility located behind the tennis courts.

Snack and a Drink for just $1

The Viking Soccer League concessions are open and running this year. Check out the facility each day for many drink and snack options. Team moms and dads will want to take advantage of the $1 deal for teams. Purchase a drink and a snack for each player on the team for $1 each. This is an easy and cost effective way to get every player on the team a half time snack. Check out the VSL concessions for all the details.

League information will be on-line!

Viking Soccer League information will be available on-line. Each team's coach will call their families to let them know about the team's first match. From that point on please consult the Viking Soccer League website for scheduling updates, team rosters and other current information. In case of bad weather please call the Viking Soccer in-season hotline (extension 153) at 477-6505. Information will be updated by 2:45 on game days should there be a last minute change to schedules.

Awards and trophies to all!
Each VSL player receives an award for his or her participation in Viking Soccer League. Coaches are to hand out the awards at the child's final game, or at the team's end of season party. Players on teams not competing in a championship game will receive a VSL 2007 commemorative award. Players on teams that compete in a championship game receive a championship or runner up trophy.
