Wednesday, September 13th, the FPD Fastpitch team participated in the Katrina Hurricane Relief through Central Baptist Church in Warner Robins. My (Coach Turner) daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Beth and Chip wheeler coordinated the effort of several groups who got together to send the supplies to the Hammond, La. area. The 18-wheeler was loaded at Central Baptist Church and the FPD Fastpitch team helped as a group, lifting and boxing materials for transport. The truck left Georgia on Friday and returned Saturday,Sept. 17th after downloading the shipment of goods in Pine, Louisiana.

In the season opener the Vikings edged out MDS as Hannah Billingsley, Katie Maddox and Courtney  Maddox all pitched us to victory.

FPD at the GISA FREEDOM PARK Invitational Tournament

Game # 2 (2-0)

FPD-8 Gatewood- 2

Leading Hitters:

Morgan Johnson : 3-3; A.K. Wright : 2-4

Winning pitcher: Katie Maddox

In the Tourney Opener, FPD collected 11 hits and played errorless ball as Katie Maddox struck out 10 Gators.

Game # 3 (2-1)

FPD 0-Tattnall -6

FPD locked up in a scoreless duel with Tattnall until the 6th when several errors led to the Vikings demise.

Hannah Billingsley pitched well enough to win, but the Lady Vikings could muster only 3 hits in a losing cause.  Leading Hitter: Jessie Jones: 1-1 (3B)

Game # 4 (3-1)

FPD 5 MDS -2

The Lady Vikes scored in 4 of 6 innings played in a Time Limit game.

Hannah Billingsley picked up the win in a complete game where she gave up 2 earned runs in the final inning.  Morgan Johnson was 2-2 to lead FPD hitting.Her double in the  4th scored led to 2 RBI.

Game # 5 (3-2)

FPD-0  GWA -3

George Walton scored in the 4th on an error and added 2 in the 5th in another time-limit game.  Katie Maddox allowed 2 earned runs as the Lady Vikings managed 3 hits while striking out 12 times.

Game # 6 (4-2)

FPD-1 Stratford -0

The Lady Vikings pitchers held the Eagles to 2 hits and made only  one error to advance to the Finals of the Silver Division of the Freedom Park Tourney.

Billingsley got the win and Maddox the save as the Vikings scratched for one tally in the first on hits by Hannah Crawford and Katie Maddox. A. K. Wright led all hitters with 2 bingoes.

Game # 7 (5-2)

FPD 6 SCA 4

Sherwood hit 2 Homers but they were not enough as Katie Maddox picked up both the Win and the Save. The Lady Vikings scored 3 in the first and hung on to win the Silver Division of the 2005 Freedom Park Tourney. FPD played errorless softball once again as T. Maddox, A.K. Wright and H. Crawford all had clutch plays in late innings to stave off SCA rallies.

This made the Lady Vikings repeat winners!! Morgan Johnson, Mary Grace Rumford, Hannah Billingsley and Tori Maddox each had one hit to lead FPD offensively.

Pick up the Lady Vikings this week as we host Westfield Monday(8/15) night at 7:00;travel to JMA on Tues.(8/16) and host JMA at 5:30 on Thursday evening. Light Dedication Ceremony is Monday night.

Game # 11

FPD 4 George Walton 3 (6-5)

This was a scoreless battle until Hannah Crawford’s 3-run triple opened things up for the Vikings. Jenna Murphy had a key bases-loaded walk to further the Vikings cause offensively. FPD played solid defense behind the pitching of Katie Maddox as the Vikings upped their record to 6-5 overall.

Game #12

FPD 10 Southland 2 (7-5)

The Vikings opened the game on Morgan Johnson’s double and the offense never stopped from there as 10 hits rang out from the FPD bats. Katie Maddox was 3-3 and Hannah Billingsley kept the Raiders off balance with a fine pitching performance. Tori Maddox had 2 RBI without getting a hit as she consistently plated runners from 3rd base.

The Vikings play Stratford at home Thursday at 7:00 PM in the Region 2-AAA opener for both.

Game #17

Tattnall 0 FPD 2 (8-9, 1-1)

FPD and Tattnall locked up in a Region 2-AAA showdown and it was a pitcher’s battle. Hannah Crawford and Tori Maddox combined to throw out the leadoff hitter in the third at 3rd base to quell an uprising. FPD drew first blood when Katie Maddox scored on an Anna Katherine Wright RBI up the middle. Molly Smith and Katie Maddox combined to call and pitch an excellent game. The Lady Vikings played good defense and put the ball in play offensively to even their Region record at 1-1. The Vikings host Southland Thursday Sept. 8th at 6:00 PM.

FPD 4 Southland 3 (9-9, 1-1)

In a close 1-run victory over Southland, Tori Maddox had a two-out single in the bottom of the 7th to score Mary Grace Rumford from second with the winning run. Katie Maddox got the win and struck out 9 for the Lady Vikings. The Vikings play at Stratford on Tuesday at 5:30 PM in a crucial Region matchup.

 
Game #19

FPD 4 Stratford 3 (8 innings) (10-9, 2-1)

The Lady Vikings won a crucial Region 2-AAA game at Stratford Tuesday night . In 8 innings ,the Vikings had a game winning single by Katie Maddox to make the score 3-2. Then, the Viking defense came through to preserve the score. Key defensive plays early, by Mary Grace Rumford and Anna Catherine Wright allowed the Lady Vikings to stay in the game. Jessie Jones performed admirably at Catcher as starter Molly Smith was out . The Vikings play at home vs. Central Fellowship on Thursday at 7:00 PM.

FPD 6  CFCA 3 (11-9, 2-1) 

Hannah Billingsley struck out 8 and walked only one as the Lady Vikings won for the 4th straight time. The Lady Vikings had 5 sacrifice bunts that led to several runs in the 4th and 6th innings. All paths lead to Tattnall on Tuesday, Sept. 20th at 4:00 PM in a Region matchup.

FPD 2  TSA 3  (8 innings) (11-10, 2-2) 

FPD---TSA---Katie Maddox and Logan Smith locked up in a pitcher’s battle that ended in the International tie-breaker when TSA scored 2 runs to FPD’s one in the extra frame. Hannah Crawford had 2 hits for FPD to lead the Lady Vikings offensively.

FPD CFCA (12-10, 2-2)

Hannah Billingsley allowed 4 hits en rout to her 6th win. The Vikings infield and outfield performed flawlessly as Jenna Murphy had eleven putouts on ground balls. Murphy was also the leading hitter, going 1-2 with an RBI. The Vikings take on MDS Tuesday in another crucial Region matchup at the Cavalier Fields at 7:00 PM.

FPD 12 MDS 6 (13-10, 3-2)

Jenna Murphy, Mary Grace Rumford and Morgan Johnson each had 2 hits while Anna Katherine Wright slammed a homer to pace FPD’s hit attack . The Vikings Katie Maddox picked up her seventh win on a 5-hitter as the Vikings prepare for a Region showdown next Wednesday with Mt. de Sales on Senior Night. FPD plays Deerfield –Windsor Thursday at 5:00 PM in a home game which may be a peek at the State Playoff pairings. The Lady Vikings must win next Wednesday to assure a 3-way tie for first in Region 2-AAA, which necessitates a coin flip to determine seeding for next week in Dublin.

FPD 3 MDS 1 (14-11, 4-2)

The Lady Vikings finished the regular season in a three way tie for the Region 2-AAA Championship.  Following the coin toss, they will be the #3 seed from the region in the State Tournament.  They will face George Walton in the first round.
