FPD dedicated the “David and Janet Walton Reading Room” inside the school’s Media Center on Friday afternoon, Oct. 18.

The event coincided with Homecoming Weekend at the school.

Many alumni, former and current faculty, students and FPD family were in attendance.

David served 42 years at FPD, including stints as Elementary School Principal and English teacher. His wife, Janet, also worked at the school for 23 years, most of which was spent as the librarian.

“David and Janet touched many lives over the years at FPD,” Headmaster Gregg Thompson said. “Each student was challenged to be a better student and they will never forget Mr. and Mrs. Walton.”

Said Mr. Walton: “Reading and writing are the foundations of education. Every student that graduates from FPD who reads and writes well has a tremendous opportunity to excel. Janet and I want to thank each of you for what you’ve meant to us over the years. We have always felt supported and loved at FPD.”
