Elementary Summer Reading List

Middle School

All middle school students must read three books: 

  • All middle school students must read the Common Read: 10,000 Reasons:  Stories of faith, hope and thankfulness inspired by the worship anthem (Redman & Borlase). This book will be discussed in small groups after the start of school.
  • Choose one from the A/R list and take a A/R test on select Wednesdays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the FPD Media Center. See the online calendar for dates.
  • Then one book for their English class
    • Sixth grade:  Night Divided
    • Seventh grade: Among the Hidden
    • Eighth grade: The Outsiders

High School

All high school students must read three books:

  • All high school students must read the Common Read: A Teen’s Guide to the Five Love Languages (Chapman & Drygas)
    Please note: this is a different than the book The Five Love Languages of Teenagers
  • Choose one from the A/R list (except Seniors),
  • Then one required by their English class (see below)
