As we near our 2018 Fine Arts Nights, we wanted to check in with one of our former art students. Lindsey O’Quinn Davis (’13) was a student in our AP Art classes who now uses her artistic abilities in her career as an interior designer. Here is what Lindsey had to say about FPD’s art program and life since FPD.

Your degree:

Interior Design from Samford University

Your current job:

I work at CFI Knoll as a AutoCAD Operator. CFI is a Contract Furniture Company.

How do you feel FPD prepared you for college?

I feel like FPD had prepared me for college in many different ways.  I was surrounded by so many encouraging friends and teachers who pushed me in my faith and in my learning.  I truly do not think I would be the person I am today without the influence and guidance of FPD. There were also many challenging classes that prepared me for many core classes at Samford University.

How do you feel FPD’s art program helped you grow your artistic abilities?

I believe that FPD’s art program helped challenge my creativity and push me father than I could have ever imagined.  AP 2D Art was my most favorite class out of all of my high school classes because I was able to really find my outlet in art and I am now able to use my artistic ability in so many different ways in life.

How do you feel your experience at FPD prepared or inspired you for your current career?

My experience at FPD prepared me and inspired me in my current career by enabling me to be creative and use my creative abilities to help others and to solve problems.

Any future aspirations or goals?

I would really like to get back into painting and creating artwork in the future, but as of now, I just want to grow as a designer in the contract furniture industry.

While at FPD, who was your favorite teacher and why?

Nancy Butler was definitely my favorite teacher. I love her because she tells it how it is and doesn’t sugar coat anything.  She is also such a strong woman and I look up to her a lot because of who she is! Not to mention that her art is amazing!!

What was your most memorable moment as a student?

One of my most memorable memories as a student was winning the Golden Eagle Award for Art my senior year of high school.  That was such an amazing feeling, and I felt so honored!

If you had to do it all over again, would you still choose FPD and why?

If I could do it all over again, I would still choose FPD because of the amazing people that surrounded me and pushed me to be who I am today.
