Each year FPD hosts two to three blood drives on campus at which students ages 16 and older along with parents, faculty, and friends can give blood. The drives, led by the American Red Cross, are student organized and coordinated. We wanted to check in with one of this year's student organizers, Lindsey Watson.
We catch up with Mrs. Cathy Knight, FPD's Elementary Instructional Support & Reading Boost Teacher, on why the two programs are key additions to FPD's elementary curriculum.
Often we get small glimpses of God’s presence that we may not even notice at first glance – sunrises, sunsets, the simple ebb and flow of the ocean. Here are few suggestions on how to not miss out on "God winks."
The 2018-2019 academic year marks Shane Self’s seventh year at FPD, teaching AP Biology, Advanced Biology, and Chemistry during that time. For six of the seven years he has helped coach FPD’s Varsity football team and this year moved to middle school football. This year, Shane has taken on a whole new role as coordinator for FPD’s Viking Football League (VFL). This is a perfect role for someone like Shane who has a big heart for football and students. We wanted to check in with Shane about his thoughts on being a teacher and coach at FPD as well as this year’s VFL season.
This school is approaching 50 years of existence. How far it has come! How blessed we are! As I’ve pondered what this school means – what it has meant to so many before us and what it still means today – I’ve concluded that there are a few constants that have formed a foundation here, a foundation for the Viking Nation. I call them the three P’s.
Mrs. Jenny Clausen has been a friendly face in the FPD elementary science lab, on the nature trails, and in the gardens for the past seven years. Prior to that, she taught fourth grade for five years at FPD and another twelve years at other schools before joining the FPD team. Now, Mrs. Clausen says she is ready for a "career change" and will be running her family's pecan farm in Zebulon, Georgia - and traveling every chance she gets!
