FPD is honored to announce the Award Honorees for Homecoming 2021. Each year, FPD selects one alum to be honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award and one member of the FPD community to be honored with the FPD Service Award.

Distinguished Alumni Award – Carol Keys Gledhill ’01

The Distinguished Alumni Award goes to an alum who has made an outstanding contribution through his/her vocation or other outstanding achievements – an individual who has “changed the world for God’s glory.”

Carol Keys Gledhill has served as the Executive Director of Covenant Care Adoption Services since 2019. The main goal of Covenant Care is to educate as many people as possible on the option of adoption. Carol’s passion for their ministry is evident as she and her team walk alongside women in crisis and minister to couples who are called to adopt. After graduating from FPD, Carol earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master’s degree in special education from Georgia College and State University (GCSU). Prior to joining Covenant Care as their Executive Director in 2019, Carol served as a PreK Transitional Coach for the Bibb County Board of Education and the Director of the Montessori Academy at GCSU. In the community, Carol volunteers as a Board Member for the Christian Adoption Alliance and is a member of Task Force for Life.

FPD Service Award – April Cassell

The FPD Service Award goes to an individual who has shown continued service and support to First Presbyterian Day School.

April Cassell’s love for FPD students and the school’s mission is evident. Prior to her current role as Area Representative for Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), April was a physical education teacher at FPD from 2004 – 2014. After joining FCA, April continued to spend countless hours volunteering on campus. She ministers to our athletes through FCA, serves as a community coach for our track and field team, and previously served as a community coach for FPD’s cross country team. April hosts a Bible study for FPD coaches’ wives along with various fellowship opportunities throughout the year. “April Cassell provides invaluable support to our student-athletes and coaches,” notes FPD Athletic Director Greg Moore. “She is always available to help and does so with a joyful spirit. She is an exceptional representation of Godly servant leadership.”

Homecoming awards are presented at the Alumni Dinner at the Wilson-Anderson Family Pavilion prior to the FPD Homecoming football game on October 22, 2021.
