We’re excited to welcome some new faces to campus this fall! Below is a quick overview of some of the new faculty and staff who will join our team this academic year.

 

Anna Gainey Spinks (’11) – Marketing Coordinator 

Anna graduated from FPD in 2011 and then from Middle Georgia State University, majoring in communications. She has been serving as a Membership Support Manager with the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia. Her husband, Matt, is the music director at Martha Bowman church, and they have a precious 2-year-old daughter, Charlie.

Cynthia Davis – Middle School Math

Mrs. Cynthia  Davis is a 36 year resident of Houston County and enjoys spending quality time with her husband, Greg, and two children, Ben and Darlyn. Ben is serving in Afghanistan with the Georgia National Guard, and Darlyn recently graduated from college. Cynthia earned her bachelor’s and master’s in education from Georgia College & State University and taught in Houston County Schools for 30 years. Currently, Mrs. Davis is the Ambassador for the Central Georgia Alzheimer’s Association and advocates in memory of her mother who is fighting the disease. In her spare time, she enjoys genealogical research and participating in the Daughters of the American Revolution organization.

Angie Freeman – Kindergarten

Angie Freeman has been teaching for 16 years in both public and private schools. She is married to Chris. They have three grown children and two adorable granddaughters. Teagan is four years old and River just turned one. She has her bachelor’s in early childhood from GC&SU and her masters from Troy University. Angie attends Ingleside Baptist Church, where she sings in the choir and on the vocal team. She loves visiting Disney World with her family and her favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11.

 

Janet Strickland – Enrichment Program Coordinator

Janet Strickland is a familiar face around campus having served as a substitute teacher for three years. She is the wife of FPD’s Director of Fine Arts & Theatre Director, Dr. Andrew Strickland, and has lovingly received the name “Drama Mama” by many of FPD’s students involved in theatre. She has two sons, Caedman in 6th grade and Luke in 9th grade. Janet has an associates degree in childcare development technology and a bachelor’s degree in Early childhood education. She has taught preschool for 24 years in Mississippi, Michigan, and Georgia (12 years at Ingleside Weekday Preschool) and loves all things Disney!

Shelli Attaway – First Grade Aide

A native of Roberta, Shelli graduated from Mercer University with a BA in Philosophy and minors in Political Science and Criminal Justice. She also worked at Mercer in Special Events, Advancement, and Athletics before becoming the Office Manager of the Junior League of Macon. She has taught preschool at Ingleside Baptist Church, where she is also a member. Shelli enjoys volunteering with Jay’s HOPE Foundation, teaching fitness classes, cooking, and photography. Shelli and her husband, Jeremy, have been married for 16.5 years. Their daughter, Cora, will be starting Kindergarten at FPD this year and has enjoyed attending a variety of camps over the past three summers at FPD. They also have a 2-year-old Siberian Husky named Gretchen.

Brayden Hutcheson – Elementary Music

Brayden Hutcheson grew up in Perry, GA and graduated from Mercer University this past May with a bachelor’s in music education. Brayden has two years of practicum experience in elementary schools and is heavily involved at Ingleside Baptist Church, especially in the Worship Arts Ministry and Young Adult Ministry. Brayden loves to write, record, play, and listen to music, as well as play tennis.

 

Emily Ann Gibbs – High School Math & Assistant Dance Team Coach

Emily Ann Gibbs was born in Macon, Georgia but grew up in Macclenny, Florida. She returned to Macon to go to college at Mercer University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and a minor in education. She taught high school math in Florida for one year and then moved to Brazil to teach secondary math at an international school in Brasilia, Brazil. She is excited to return to the USA and come back to her roots in Macon. In her free time she loves to read, paint, sew, dance and travel.

 

Tara Spillers – First Grade Aide

Tara Spillers is a familiar face around campus having served as a substitute teacher for a couple of years. Tara graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelors in early childhood education. She taught 1st grade in Crawford County for two years.  She and her husband, Brandan, have four beautiful children at FPD – Gavin, Ava, Levi, and Vanna.

Stacy Benton – Kindergarten Aide

Stacy Benton grew up in Macon and currently lives in Gray, Georgia with her husband, David. She has three children – Destini, Emma Grace, and Ethan. She attended Macon State College and formerly worked in real estate. Most recently she has served as a substitute teacher at FPD and worked in FPD’s The Viking Store.

 

Kris Hattaway Vaughn (’04) – Director of Admissions

Since August of 2015, Kris Vaughn has served as the Executive Director of GeorgiaForward, a statewide nonprofit. Under her leadership, GeorgiaForward has grown the leadership action program Young Gamechangers as well as resumed annual Forums that convene statewide thought leaders to discuss the future of Georgia. Prior to joining GeorgiaForward, she led economic development and community engagement efforts for the Macon Water Authority, and for over five years before that, she was the Director of Place for NewTown Macon. Kris is an active member of the Macon Rotary Club and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Macon. Kris is married to Forsyth attorney Ben Vaughn. They live in Monroe County with their daughter, Hattie, and two dogs. They are active members of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church in Macon

 

Jonas Smith – Dining Director with SAGE

Jonas Smith is a graduate from the culinary program at Le Cordon Bleu Atlanta, which led to a pre-graduate externship at Mami Camilla bed and breakfast in Sorrento, Italy.  He has served with SAGE Dining Services at Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy and Whitefield Academy. Jonas has experience with restaurants and retail service operations in and around the Atlanta Metro area also.

Jonas has a passion for food and sharing that passion with others. He believes in service to others as he has served as Conference and District President for the Society of St. Vincent De Paul. He has a beagle named Kaipo and loves to travel, especially to Hawaii where his family lives!
