FPD proudly announces two internal moves taking place this summer. Mrs. Keena McClure and Mrs. Janet Strickland are taking on new roles. Viking Nation is grateful for their commitment to FPD.

Mrs. Janet Strickland takes on the role of Lower School Librarian. She has served as a Lower School Aide for the last three years. Her previous roles at FPD have included three years as a substitute teacher and two years as Enrichment Program Coordinator. She received a Bachelor of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education from Northern Arizona University and has taught preschool for 25 years in three states. Mrs. Strickland is also involved in the FPD Theatre Program serving in many different capacities. “It is an honor to continue my love of storytelling and teaching in our wonderful elementary library where I have been able to assist our retiring librarian, Mrs. Cyndi Darnell, for the past few years.,” she said. “I am beyond excited!” Mrs. Strickland is married to Dr. Andrew Strickland, FPD’s Head of Fine Arts and theatre/dance instructor. They have two sons – Luke, ’23, and Caedmon, who is a junior.

Mrs. Keena McClure will now serve as a lead 3K Teacher. She previously worked as a preschool aide for 14 years. With a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Auburn University, Mrs. McClure has also worked in banking and as an event coordinator. She and her husband Darin,’84, have two children:  Maddie,’19, and Henry, ’24. Maddie lives in New York City and Henry is attending Washington & Lee University in the fall. Mrs. McClure is excited to take on the responsibility of 3K lead teacher in the preschool program.  An interesting fact, the class of 2025 is the first group of students she worked with at FPD.
