After another wonderful year of FPD sports action, the Vikings were named the top private school athletic department in Middle Georgia for the 2017-2018 academic year by the Regions Bank Directors Cup.
“I am so proud of our tremendous student-athletes and coaches for their hard work, dedication, and mostly for their willingness to participate in school sports,” said Greg Moore, FPD’s Athletic Director. “The entire Viking Nation celebrates this fantastic accomplishment. What a blessing!”
The purpose of the Regions Bank Directors Cup is to recognize athletic departments in all GHSA classifications who have excelled and shown superior performance. Twenty-five GHSA sports are counted in the standings, with ranks based on each school’s eight highest-scoring sports for each gender.
FPD’s male varsity teams scored 506 points, placing them second in Class-A male teams in the state of Georgia. FPD’s female varsity teams placed just outside Georgia’s Class-A, top-10 list, with teams scoring 303 points overall. Their combined score of 809 points ranked FPD number one for Class-A private schools in Middle Georgia and eighth in the state.
FPD has consistently been one of the Regions Bank Directors Cup top-10 athletic programs in boys and girls sports since joining the GHSA in 2010. The Vikings finished as Class-A state runner-up in 2015-2016.
