First Presbyterian Day School is pleased to announce that Mr. Doug Wasden will be joining Team FPD in the History Department and as the Head Girls Basketball Coach. Coach Wasden brings a very successful resume of over 200 wins to the FPD Girls program, having served as a Head Varsity coach for Girls or Boys for 11 seasons. Coach Wasden’s first opportunity as a Head coach came at Westminster School in Augusta, GA. Coach Wasden made a Final Four appearance at First Baptist Academy in Dallas, TX, before coaching both the girls and boys teams at Curtis Baptist School in Augusta. Most recently, Coach Wasden led the Sugar Hill Christian Academy Girls team to Region and State championships in Buford, GA. Doug is a long-time educator who has served in the roles of teacher, principal, and head of school to couple his success as a basketball coach.
“Doug comes highly recommended to us,” said FPD Athletic Director, Greg Moore. “He loves what we are doing here at FPD, and he’s eager to get his family here to begin this journey. We’re thankful for John Griffin’s years of service, and Coach Wasden understands the legacy of our program.”
In addition to coaching the girls’ basketball team, Coach Wasden will serve as an Assistant coach in FPD’s Volleyball program in the Fall. Coach Wasden holds a bachelor’s degree from Brewton Parker College and a master’s degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX.
Doug and his wife, Kim, have been married for 17 years, and they will be joined at FPD by their three daughters: Faith Abigail (16), Elly Grace (14), and Ava Hope (11). Viking Nation, we welcome the Wasden Family to TEAM FPD!
