Mrs. Tara Spillers returns to FPD as a 3rd grade teacher. Mrs. Spillers is from Macon and received her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia. She taught 1st grade at Crawford County Elementary and FPD, and she has served as an elementary aide at FPD. She and her husband Brandan have four children: Gavin, ’24, Ava, a rising junior, Levi, a rising 8th grader, and Vanna, a rising 6th grader. Brandan is the lead pastor at Open Bible Church in Lizella. In her spare time, Mrs. Spillers keeps busy teaching student Bible classes at church, singing on the praise team, and creating digital media content for services and events. Outside of church, you can find her at a field or court watching her kids play softball, football, basketball, baseball, and track. She also enjoys painting, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Spillers is thrilled God has called her back to the FPD classroom. “Education with a Biblical worldview was a top priority when our family looked for schools for our children years ago. Early on, it was apparent that FPD’s spiritual emphasis, curriculum, and overall culture greatly exceeded our expectations,” Mrs. Spillers said. “We’ve been a Viking family for 14 years now. Our family is forever blessed by our FPD experience. Now, having an FPD graduate, I greatly value the lifelong, Godly impact that teachers, coaches, and administrators continue to have on him. I’m excited to be rejoining Viking Nation and getting the opportunity to impact other Viking families the same way that we have been impacted.”

Ms. Pam Gibbons will work as a Pre-K Aide beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. From Macon, Ms. Gibbons received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Georgia and her master’s degree in special education from Georgia College & State University. She has worked most recently as a beginner teacher at Stratford Academy and has also served as the lead 3K teacher at Ingleside Baptist Church. Ms. Gibbons has three adult children: Lacey, Mallory, and Walker, as well as two grandchildren: Molly and Hannah. She is an animal lover and is active in dog rescue organizations. She also enjoys watercolor painting and hand-making pottery. She looks forward to working with FPD preschool students this upcoming year. “I am so excited to be joining a team of people that have the same values and goals when educating young children,” Ms. Gibbons said. “I hope to foster their love of Christ and prepare them to move ahead with confidence.”

Mrs. Amy Walthall joins TEAM FPD as a 3K Aide. Mrs. Walthall received her associate’s degree in teacher education and a bachelor’s degree in health information management from Macon State College. Originally from Alabama, she has spent most of her life in Monroe County. Mrs. Walthall has been married to Malcolm for 17 years, and they have two girls—Caitlyn (8th grade) and Emmie (1st grade). She has spent many years volunteering with preschool-aged children at church. In her spare time, Mrs. Walthall enjoys making travel plans and going on adventures with her family—especially camping and hiking. She also loves visiting the beach, fishing, watching Alabama football, and cheering on the Atlanta Braves. One of her favorite pastimes is drinking a cup of coffee on the front porch with a good book, as she has loved to read since she was young. Mrs. Walthall and her family have been part of Viking Nation since 2015. “We fell in love with the school and have since volunteered in different capacities on campus,” she said. “I’m excited to join Team FPD and experience the day-to-day of watching these students learn, grow, and be equipped to glorify God in all they do!”
