The Mercer University football team visited FPD on Friday, Nov. 8 and read books to kindergarten students.

Members of the Bears also signed autographs.

Carter Barfield, Mercer running back coach, says the opportunity to serve the community is greatly appreciated.

“We are always looking forward to the opportunity to come out and meet kids in the community, get the Mercer name out there and touch some lives,” Barfield said.

Players in attendance included quarterback John Russ, running back Payton Usher and wide receivers Josh Jones Jordan Marshall.

Mercer is 9-1 this season, returning to football action for the first time since 1941.
