STEAM at FPD

Igniting Curiosity, Creativity, and Innovation

At our school, STEAM is more than a program. It is a journey of creativity, curiosity, and innovation that spans across all grades. By uniting Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics through project-based learning, we challenge students to think critically, solve real-world problems, and turn bold ideas into reality. Through hands-on experiments and imaginative design challenges, our STEAM program empowers every learner to explore, create, and lead in a rapidly changing world.

Meet our Faculty

Mrs. Anna Leigh Hutchison leads our Lower School Innovation Station, bringing a passion for students and a gift for unlocking their creativity. “The good thing about STEAM is that it’s so forward-thinking—it encompasses just about everything while teaching students valuable skills,” she shares. While her lessons often focus on engineering-based concepts, her students are also gaining life skills they’ll carry forever. “Especially for younger children, we’re building fine motor skills while instilling values like patience and self-control. They learn how to respond when things don’t go as planned, how to revisit and improve their work, and how to turn failure into a step toward success.” Collaboration and communication are also central to her approach. “A lot of 21st-century skills are being instilled in the students,” she adds.

High School

Students experience STEAM not only in the classroom but also beyond it through a variety of clubs and organizations. This year, FPD is launching an Engineering Club, where members will build an electric car and compete in events. We also offer Robotics, Math Club, and other groups that allow students to dive deeper into their specific interests.
