Several of FPD’s talented students were recognized at an academic assembly, February 24, 2014. Below are the honorees.
Prudential Spirit of Community Awards – This award honors students in middle and high school who demonstrate outstanding service at the local, state, and national level.
Katherine Bolles won a Certificate of Merit for her work with Hooks for Hope and other organizations. Mary Helen Douglas was recognized as the Top 10% of her state and received the President’s Volunteer Service Award, signed by President Obama, in honor of her work with Hephzibah Children’s Home.
French Emersion Weekend
FPD Students Megan Huggins and Abigail Pierce, along with Mrs. Irene Marxen, completed a French emersion weekend at Camp Rock Eagle
Société Honoraire de Français – Members of this academic society, must complete three semesters of high school French, maintaining an A average in French and an overall grade point average of at least a B. The semester of the nomination, the student must have an A in French and no grade below a B in their other classes.
The honorees are: Caroline Burns, Julie Peavy, Cassidy Pearson, Bridger Rollins, Hannah Pittman, Emily Rutledge, Yuka Yokoyama, Summer Sanders, Adam Young , Katlyn Smaha, Kristen Beach, Anna Claire Steitenroth, Gibson Daniel, Matthew Wright, Jenna Dawson, Sara Robertson, Caroline Hague, Morgan Mullis, Hannah McCook.
Hugh O’Brien Leadership Award (HOBY Award). This award recognizes students who are positive catalysts for change in the areas of volunteerism, integrity, excellence and community partnership. Sophomore Lizzie Reed was selected by a committee of faculty and administration based on her leadership in those areas.
National Merit Finalist – This national award is presented to a limited number of high school seniors who achieve high academic scores and PSAT scores. FPD Senior William Roddenberry was recognized.
