School Counseling

Susan Floyd Causey bio copyFPD’s School Counseling program is led by Mrs. Susan Causey. Mrs. Causey is a native of Macon and received her Bachelor of Arts and Science degree from Vanderbilt University in 1976 and a Masters of Education in Counseling Psychology from Georgia State University with a Certificate in Biblical Studies in 1978. She has held a license as Professional Counselor since 1985. From 1978-1980 she served as the Middle School counselor at Monroe County Middle School in Forsyth. After her first child was born, she accepted a position as a staff counselor at the Middle Georgia Pastoral Counseling Center of First Presbyterian Church where she remained for nineteen years specializing in child, adolescent, women’s issues, educational testing, and marriage and family counseling prior to coming on staff at First Presbyterian Day School in 1998. During that time she spent a 2 year interim as Director of Bethany Christian Services of Georgia, which is now Covenant Care, and for 5 years was the Administrator of MGPCC.

“Counselor Causey” makes monthly visits to each elementary classrooms to teach character lessons. She hosts seminars for the Middle School, and provides leadership opportunities to High School students. She writes the elementary “Counselor’s Corner” newsletter bimonthly, and is available for counseling sessions throughout the school day for students or parents.
