Three FPD students were honored at the 38th annual Golden Eagle Awards at the Grand Opera House in downtown Macon on Tuesday night, April 28.

According to The Telegraph, 161 seniors from 23 high schools across Middle Georgia were honored. Golden Eagle nominees represent some of the most exceptional students in the midstate area. 

Also according to The Telegraph, awards were handed out in 12 categories: English/literature, foreign language, math, music, industrial/vocational, journalism, science, technology, art, athletics, citizenship and drama. Each of the 12 winners is given $1,000.

FPD’s Sumner Carlton was the winner in athletics and Ru Yi Marone took first in technology. Tesch Jerles was an honorable mention in art as well.
