Our administration team continues to monitor developments of the COVID-19 virus. We are in communication with local schools and health officials regarding plans and updates and will continue to notify parents as we have new information.

Athletic Events

In accordance with the Governor’s statement and the GHSA’s subsequent recommendation, FPD will suspend all athletic competitions, effective immediately through March 27.  At that time, we will reassess the ongoing situation regarding the COVID-19 response in our state and local districts.

There will be no practice this afternoon, Friday, March 13, so coaches and teachers can attend a faculty meeting after school. Future practices will continue if school remains in session.

Grandparents’ Day

We have decided to postpone Grandparents’ Day. A future date will be announced once plans have been made. Having our grandparents on campus is such a special time, and we know our lower school students have worked so hard to prepare. We hope to find another date so grandparents can come see their grandchildren perform.

Preparations for Possible School Closure

Students should plan to take all their needed materials home with them each day in the case that on-campus classes are temporarily suspended. Mrs. Pearson and Mr. Kitchell will be meeting with our middle and high school students today to prepare them with expectations for distance learning if that is the next step. Mrs. Putnal and the lower school teachers have also been reviewing resources for distance learning and will share updates on their teacher blogs.

Should on-campus classes be suspended, students should be prepared to continue with classwork remotely.

More details about future plans will be announced later this afternoon.

We continue to pray for peace and health for our students and families, as well as our nation and world. Since this is such an unprecedented and fluid situation, we appreciate everyone’s prayers and patience as decisions are made. The FPD community is strong and supportive, and we are thankful for each and every one of you.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
