Celebrating the FPD Class of 2026: A Legacy of Excellence
Every spring, First Presbyterian Day School in Macon, Georgia, takes a moment to celebrate its graduating seniors—a group of students whose years of hard work, growth, and dedication have shaped both their own futures and the life of the school. The Class of 2026 is no exception. Their accomplishments in the classroom, on the field, on the stage, and in service to others reflect the impact of an FPD education rooted in faith and excellence.
This year, 66 seniors received their diplomas, becoming the 52nd graduating class in FPD's 56-year history. FPD's total alumni count nows reaches an impressive 3,559 graduates, a legacy that spans generations of Macon families.
Here's a look at what makes the Class of 2026 truly stand out.
Academic Excellence Across the Board
The Class of 2026 set a high bar academically. Every graduate is earning a college prep diploma, reflecting FPD's rigorous, liberal-arts-based curriculum and its commitment to preparing students for top colleges and universities. 
Key academic highlights include:
- 46 Honor Graduates received gold cords for academic distinction
- 39 students were inducted into the National Honor Society, earning gold tassels
- 22 AP Scholars — one of the highest totals in recent FPD history
- 1 Georgia Scholar, one of the state's top academic honors
- Multiple National Merit Finalists and Commended Scholars
These numbers reflect a culture at FPD where academic rigor isn't the exception; it's the expectation.
A Class Built on Service
FPD's mission goes beyond the classroom, and the Class of 2026 lived that out in a big way. Over their four years of high school, these seniors logged a combined 14,225+ hours of community service, supporting more than 100 different agencies and churches locally and around the world.
On average, each student contributed 215 service hours — nearly double FPD's required minimum of 120 hours. Several seniors went on to earn a Diploma Endorsement in Community Service, recognizing their exceptional commitment to giving back. 
Champions on the Field, Court, and Track
Athletically, the Class of 2026 helped write some of the most memorable chapters in recent FPD Vikings history. Over the past several years, these seniors were part of:
- State championship and runner-up teams in multiple sports
- Repeat state titles in Boys' and Girls' Tennis
- A state championship in Girls' Soccer
- Multiple state titles for the Shooting Team
- A state championship in Football
- A state championship for Baseball
- An individual state championship in Track (Pole Vault)
In total, the Class of 2026 contributed to roughly 12 state championship titles across multiple sports during their FPD careers, which is a testament to the depth and consistency of FPD's athletic programs. Several seniors from this class will go on to compete at the collegiate level, continuing the Vikings' tradition of excellence beyond high school.
Standout Performances in the Arts
Creativity thrived in this class as well. FPD's senior AP Art students showcased standout visual artwork throughout the year, while seniors took center stage in theatrical productions, band, and dance programs that entertained the FPD community all year long. 
The class also excelled in Robotics, advancing to the state championship, and in Mock Trial, which brought home multiple regional and district titles over the past several years. A small group of seniors earned a Diploma Endorsement in Fine Arts, recognizing sustained excellence in the visual and performing arts.
Looking Ahead: College Acceptances and Future Plans
As the Class of 2026 prepares for their next chapter, the numbers speak to just how competitive and well-prepared these graduates are:
- 330 college applications submitted to 92 different colleges across 26 states and multiple countries
- An average of 5 applications per student
- 38% of the Class of 2026 has been accepted to the University of Georgia (UGA)
This fall, members of the Class of 2026 will head off to attend 32 different schools across 10 states, with destinations ranging from in-state powerhouses like UGA, Georgia Tech, and Georgia Southern, to out-of-state institutions across the Southeast and beyond. A few seniors are even pursuing unique paths, including military service academy appointments and a semester-long study-at-sea program.
A Class That Embodies the FPD Mission
From the classroom to the playing field, the stage to the mission field, the Class of 2026 reflects what FPD strives to do every day: educate and equip students to change the world for God's glory.
As these 66 seniors move on to college campuses across the country, they carry with them more than just a diploma; they carry a foundation built on faith, academic excellence, service to others, and a strong sense of community that defines what it means to be a Viking.
