Every Door Opens an Opportunity
Every student brings something different to FPD, interests they already love, talents they are developing, and plenty of things they have yet to try. That's what makes opportunities like the Upper School Club Fair so much fun. Students explore what interests them, try something new, meet classmates with shared passions, and discover new ways to get involved in the life of the school.
Trying Something New
As students move from classroom to classroom, the possibilities begin to take shape. Maybe a student steps into Robotics because they've always liked taking things apart, and before long they're leaning over a circuit board with classmates asking questions, testing ideas, and building the kind of curiosity and problem-solving skills that serve them well long after graduation.
Maybe FCA catches their attention, giving them another place to grow in their faith alongside peers and talk honestly about what it means to follow Christ.
A few doors down, a friend pulls them into Mock Trial or a History Club debate, where they practice listening well, making an argument, and learning how to disagree while still respecting the person across the room. In Pep Club, students channel their school spirit into the energy and traditions that make Viking Nation special.
A student discovers a new talent for chess or gets pulled into a Mahjong match and becomes fascinated by the strategy. Others find themselves drawn to Spanish Club or Together Across Cultures, where curiosity about the world becomes an opportunity to learn from people with different backgrounds and experiences.
These experiences give students the chance to put so much of what they learn at FPD into practice , to think deeply, communicate well, grow in faith, develop their gifts, build relationships, and care for others. And sometimes, it all begins simply because they decide to walk through a new door and give something a try.
Getting Involved
That's what Club Fair Day is really about. Yes, students choose clubs, but they also choose ways to participate in their school community. They put their names on sign-up sheets, discover new interests, meet someone they might not otherwise get to know, or find another opportunity to develop something they already love.
Those small choices add up. They help students build confidence, develop leadership skills, form friendships, and become active contributors to the FPD community.
