Hannah Strange Named February Student of the Month
First Presbyterian Day School is proud to recognize sophomore Hannah Strange as the February Student of the Month for her academic excellence, servant leadership, and positive impact on campus.
Though this is Hannah’s first year at FPD, she has quickly become a valued member of the school community. Transitioning to a new school can be challenging, but Hannah embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm and a willingness to grow.
“I love it,” Hannah said of her experience at FPD. “It’s been a change, for sure, but I love the education, the teachers, and the students around me. It’s a good atmosphere.”
Throughout the year, Hannah has pushed herself beyond her comfort zone — both academically and athletically. She tried softball for the first time. She is also currently competing in track and joined the basketball team. While basketball has long been familiar to her, joining a new team presented fresh challenges and opportunities.
“It was so good,” she said. “The teams were amazing, and the coaches were so nice and welcoming. It was really fun to see what I could do and push myself.”
Faculty members describe Hannah as a diligent, hardworking student who consistently exceeds expectations in the classroom. Mrs. Robyn Robertson, her biology teacher, praised her character and compassion.
“She is such a kind, hardworking student,” Robertson said. “She is so quick to help someone struggling and shows genuine concern for other students and me. She is just the sweetest!”
Her English teacher, Ms. Kate Mixon, emphasized both Hannah’s academic commitment and relational strengths.
“Hannah is a student who consistently does what she's asked and goes above and beyond classroom expectations,” Mixon said. “However, where she really shines is through her relationships. She makes both her teachers and her classmates feel seen and appreciated. She is well-rounded, kind, and positive. She is a joy to have in the classroom.”
Hannah views the recognition as an opportunity to reflect her faith through service. “It’s so kind,” she said. “It’s like a testimony — Jesus served others.. Helping teachers and other students is refreshing, and it’s encouraging to see that pay off.”
As February Student of the Month, Hannah exemplifies FPD’s mission to educate and equip students to change the world for God’s glory. We look forward to watching her continue to grow and lead both in and out of the classroom.
