FPD Welcomes
Coach John Griffin as Varsity Girls Basketball Coach
First Presbyterian Day School is excited to welcome back Coach John Griffin as our new Varsity Girls Basketball Coach.
Coach Griffin brings more than four decades of coaching experience and 30 years in education to Viking Nation. Throughout his career, he has coached at John Hancock Academy, Georgia Military College, Georgia College & State University, Bibb County Public Schools, and previously at FPD. His wealth of experience, passion for developing student-athletes, and commitment to excellence make him a tremendous addition to our athletic program.
"We are thrilled to have Coach Griffin step into this role for us,” said Athletic Director Greg Moore. "He understands our mission, he’s a very hard worker, and our girls’ basketball players will really grow under his leadership."
A graduate of John Hancock Academy, CoachGriffin earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Education from Georgia College & State University. He recently retired after 30 years of teaching, serving students at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville and within the Bibb County School System.
Coach Griffin and his wife, Caroline, have two children, Ashley Ray and Jake Griffin, both proud FPD alumni, and are the grandparents of five grandchildren. Outside of basketball, he enjoys spending time hunting and fishing.
"I am excited to be back at FPD after being away for four years," said Coach Griffin. "I am ready to get started and look forward to the basketball season."
