Greg Moore Named GIAA Class AAAA Athletic Director of the Year

First Presbyterian Day School is proud to announce that Greg Moore has been named the GIAA Class AAAA Athletic Director of the Year.

This award honors athletic directors who provide excellence in high school athletics through professional conduct, organization, communication, sportsmanship, supervision, encouragement, and effective game management.

For FPD, this recognition reflects decades of faithful leadership.

A Career of Consistency and Excellence

Moore is in his 38th year at First Presbyterian Day School and has served as Athletic Director for 28 years. During his career, Moore has served as an assistant in multiple sports and as the Head Coach for Football, Basketball, and Baseball.

While leading the football program, Moore compiled a 163–109 overall record, won six region championships, advanced to two state semifinals, and appeared in three state championship games. His teams consistently qualified for the playoffs across GISA, GHSA, and GIAA competition.  In 12 years as the Basketball coach, he led the Vikings to seven Region Championships, 5 Final Four appearances, a State Runner-up finish, and captured the State Championship in 2000 and again in 2004.

Most recently, he has served as the Head Baseball coach, where success has again followed his tenure.  In five seasons under Moore’s watch, the Vikings have captured three Region Championships, a Final Four appearance, and have finished as State Runners-up in 2024 and 2025.  His won-loss record as the Vikings’ skipper is 131-43-1.  He was named Region Coach of the Year six times and earned Macon Touchdown Club Coach of the Year honors twice, most recently in 2021.  After the Fall 2022 season, Moore transitioned fully into athletic administration while continuing to serve as Head Baseball Coach.

Leading Viking Athletics in 2026

Moore oversees every athletic program at FPD. His leadership ensures that Viking athletics operate with structure, integrity, and competitive excellence.

His role includes:

  • Oversight of all athletic programs and coaches
  • Scheduling, supervision, and game management
  • Maintaining high standards of sportsmanship at home and away events
  • Supporting and mentoring coaching staff
  • Aligning athletics with FPD’s Christ-centered mission

Moore often reflects on the relationships that define his career. He said,

I’m so grateful for our coaches and players. Every single one of them has changed my life in some positive way. Looking back, I see the unmistakable hand of God in my time as a coach. Nothing beats seeing a player or team accomplish something that was originally thought to be impossible.”

This award affirms what the FPD community has experienced for decades: steady leadership, long-term commitment, and a deep investment in students and coaches alike.  Greg Moore will be formally recognized at the GADA Conference in Athens, Georgia, February 27–March 1.
