Junior Sydney Brumbelow Named FPD Student of the Month

OriginalImage,,,OriginalFirst Presbyterian Day School junior Sydney Brumbelow has been named FPD’s Student of the Month, recognized by teachers for her diligence in the classroom, positive attitude, and kindness toward others.

Sydney, who has attended FPD since kindergarten, said the relationships she has built over the past 12 years are what make the school community so meaningful to her.

“One of my favorite things about FPD is how much the teachers really invest in our lives — not just our studies,” Sydney said. “They care about how we’re doing as people.”

She also highlighted chapel as one of her favorite parts of student life, especially the student-led worship experiences that bring students together through a variety of music styles and messages.

Sydney also praised math teacher Mrs. Abigail Floyd for helping strengthen her confidence in the classroom.

“She’s one of the first teachers I felt like really explained things well,” Sydney said. “She connects with students because she understands us.”

Mrs. Floyd said Sydney consistently demonstrates leadership, perseverance, and encouragement toward others.

“Sydney is a student that shows patience and perseverance in everything she does,” Floyd said. “She is attentive and works to bring those around her up. She puts forth her best effort in everything she does and does so with a smile. She serves on our Honor Council well and holds herself and her peers to the highest standards.”

When asked what advice she would offer younger students, Sydney emphasized the importance of staying consistent in the classroom.

“Actually do your homework,” she said with a laugh. “Those daily grades really do help your overall grade.”

FPD congratulates Sydney Brumbelow on being named Student of the Month and celebrates the impact she continues to make within the Viking community.
