Living the Mission: Chandler Jackson, '22, Equipped for Wellness

OriginalImage,,,OriginalWhen Chandler Jackson, ’22, talks about wellness, he isn't talking only about workout routines or healthy habits. He's talking about perseverance, faith, community, and learning to find hope in the middle of life's most difficult challenges.

Currently studying biology at Georgia State University with plans to become a physician, Chandler's career aspirations are deeply personal. Having spent much of his life navigating chronic kidney disease, he hopes to one day help patients facing the same fears, struggles, and uncertainties he once experienced himself.

"I’m currently studying to be a doctor and help those who were like me at one point," he said.

For years, Chandler's life looked very different from that of most students his age. While friends were playing sports, hanging out after school, or taking spontaneous trips, Chandler often found himself in hospitals, receiving treatments, or managing the daily realities of a serious illness. The physical challenges were significant, but the emotional and mental toll was just as difficult.

"I can only describe my health journey as the most difficult thing I have had to face," Chandler said. "Not just physically but mentally."

His health journey taught him patience, gratitude, and the importance of valuing the people who walk beside you through life's hardest seasons. It also gave him a deeper appreciation for things many people take for granted, including good health and everyday moments with family and friends.

Throughout those years, Chandler found strength in the FPD community. He remembers classmates, teachers, coaches, and families who continually supported him through prayer, encouragement, and genuine care.

"My time at FPD taught me that community is everything and you cannot face battles alone," he said. "So many people at FPD supported and prayed for me while I was sitting in a hospital bed, getting chemo treatment, or if I was just at school and they saw I was struggling mentally."

Reading about the perseverance of figures such as David, Job, Moses, and Jesus reminded him that trials are often part of a greater story and gave him the determination to keep moving forward.

In addition to sharing his journey with those around him, Chandler turned to social media to reach others facing chronic illness. Posting under the name Chandler the Health Guy on TikTok, he began documenting the realities of life with kidney disease, offering encouragement, education, and an honest look at the challenges patients and caregivers face every day. His message resonated far beyond his immediate circle. What started as a way to connect with others grew into an online community of more than 125,000 followers, with videos reaching hundreds of thousands of viewers.

Today, Chandler is experiencing a new chapter. After receiving a kidney transplant on February 17, 2026, he is enjoying renewed health and new opportunities.

"I am now fully healed and with a brand new kidney," he said. "My life changed so much."

As he looks toward a future in medicine, Chandler remains grateful for the journey that shaped him and the people who walked alongside him. His message to others facing challenges is simple but powerful: keep going.

"The biggest piece of advice I can give is keep fighting no matter how hard it is getting because your blessing could be right around the corner."
