She is a graduate of Tattnall Square Academy, ’10, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Georgia College & State University, ‘14, followed by a Master of Education in Higher Education Leadership from Mercer University, ‘15. She brings a wealth of experience across both education and athletics. Her career includes serving at Piedmont Academy as an Athletic Trainer, Athletic Director, and Teacher. She has also worked in professional baseball with the Charleston Dirty Birds and the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars. Most recently, she served as Head Athletic Trainer at Fork Union Military Academy from 2024–2026, as well as Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Saint Mary, 2023–2024. Mary Catherine and her husband, Mike, have a daughter, Callaway, who is 7 months old. Outside of her professional work, Mary Catherine is musically talented—she plays both the piano and flute and served as a drum major for four years in high school. Mary Catherine shares, “I am so blessed to be returning to my hometown to join such an incredible school. After working in professional baseball and a 7th–12th grade military school, I am most excited to be returning to a K–12 environment where I can aid in the athletic and spiritual development of students of all ages.”

She is currently completing her degree at Georgia Southern University and will graduate in May 2026. Lola shares that her time at FPD made a lasting impact on her life: “Going to college made me realize how much of a blessing FPD truly is. The faculty and staff genuinely care about their students and each other—it’s truly a team environment where you’re always supported.” She especially values FPD’s commitment to spiritual growth, not just teaching about the Bible—something she looks forward to building on for her own students next year. The next few months are busy for Lola Grace, as she plans for her upcoming marriage this summer to fellow FPD alumnus Walker Perkins, and cheers on her sister, Maddie James, as she graduates from FPD in May.
