FPD proudly announces that Ms. Melissa Brown has been named the new Director of the International Program. Ms. Brown is from Macon and is a member of First Presbyterian Church. She has the sweetest Golden Retriever na

med Lolly, who loves everyone she meets.

“Melissa is a brilliant educator, with a heart for FPD and our international students,” said incoming Head of School Matt Kitchell. “While she will be missed dearly on the 5th grade hall next fall, we’re confident that Melissa is the right fit for our international program.”

“Her drive for excellence and love for students are the perfect fit for this role.  We could not be happier,” he added.

Ms. Brown has been a teacher for 23 years, 16 of those at FPD. With a heart for missions, she has worked alongside missionaries in both Nicaragua and Mexico. FPD’s International Program is also very dear to her, as she began hosting an international student in 2024.

“Hosting a student has meant more than welcoming someone into my home; it has meant welcoming her into my family,” Ms. Brown said. “She and my niece are sweet cousins, and she considers my family her own.  It has been a great experience for all of us!”

As International Program Director, she looks forward to meeting new friends and learning about new cultures, particularly in China and South Korea.

“Through our international program, we truly live out our school’s mission, ‘to educate and equip students to change the world for God’s glory,’” Ms. Brown said. “I am so grateful to work with these students and families and grow the mission through our international program.”
