Summer Learning for Students
At FPD, we believe learning is a year-round opportunity to grow. Research shows that when students step away from reading and math over the summer months, they can lose important skills—particularly in math and reading comprehension. This “summer slide” can make it more challenging for students to begin the new school year with confidence.
Just as importantly, consistent engagement over the summer helps students build strong habits of curiosity, discipline, and independence. Reading regularly strengthens vocabulary and critical thinking, while continued math practice reinforces the foundational skills students need for future success.
By staying engaged in reading and math during the summer, students return to campus better prepared, more confident, and ready to thrive. At FPD, we see summer learning not as extra work, but as an opportunity to continue pursuing excellence and to steward well the gifts God has given each student.
