September 11 is always a touching day for those of us who lived the moment in 2001. However, our students were not born on that day and many have only heard stories of the impact it had on our nation. To help them understand the magnitude this particular day holds, FPD faculty host several events on campus.
At 8:46 a.m., commemorating the moment the first place hit the towers, the campus hosted a prayer time. Then throughout the day, kindergarten students made a flag using their handprints. In fifth grade, students wrote thank you letters to our local first responders, and the middle and high school students joined in by writing the names of every victim in chalk around our campus. Their finished product was a powerful reminder for all students and faculty of how many lives were effected.
Here is a video of their work.
