MACON, Ga. – FPD’s One-Act play, 937, placed second of eight schools at the GHSA Class-A Area-1 Private One-Act Competition on Saturday, Oct. 24 at FPD’s Clark Fine Arts Center.

FPD scored an overall ranking of six points, tying with Stratford Academy for first place.

However, per GHSA rules, all ties must be broken to determine a winner to send to the state competition.

Therefore, the point total was added up from all three judges and each school finished tied again with 281 points.

The judges deliberated for over half an hour and came to the conclusion that Stratford had two no. 1 rankings to FPD’s one, thus giving Stratford first overall and FPD second.

Megan Huggins won Best Actress for her performance as “Elise” in the play 937 while Cullen Cummings took home an All-Star Cast award for his role of “Max Lowe.”

“As proud as I was of the cast and crew for the amazing performance I think I was even more proud of their reaction to the results,” Strickland said. “It was incredibly hard for them to be the runner-up show in that sort of situation, but they handled the disappointment in such a professional, encouraging, and Godly manner. I hope you will join me in surrounding them with love and support for both their performance abilities and their excellent character and attitude. These kids develop the tools they will need to change the world for God’s glory!”

The cast and crew are planning to premier the show one more time. More details will follow once a date has been determined.

Contact Andrew Strickland for further details.

Congratulations to all!
