FPD Head Girls Basketball Coach, John Griffin, has announced that he will retire and step away from his current coaching position, effective at the end of the 2022 basketball season. In a meeting with the Girls’ basketball players and coaches, Griffin cited his love for the girls and the joy of competition. Coach Griffin will be completing his 43rdyear of coaching, 16 of which he served at FPD.  For the last 8 years, Griffin has been the Lady Vikings Head Coach.

“John has been a hard-working, faithful servant to our Girls basketball program,” said FPD Athletic Director, Greg Moore.“I’m extremely happy for him as he transitions to a new direction in his life, as he has been a dear friend and colleague for many years. So many young ladies have been affected by John’s servant heart, and I know they all join us in wishing him all of God’s richest blessings.” Moore continued, “We will begin our search for the new Girls Basketball coach immediately.”

The Lady Vikings are currently the #5 seed in the upcoming Region 1-A Private Basketball Tournament at FPD this week. FPD is scheduled to play Tuesday, February 15, at 3:30 p.m.
